Nice Friday-night-movie

Based on a true story this is the 21st film by Sweedish director Daniel Alfredson, an unknown to the general public, apart from being involved in the Millennium Movies and TV series, he is still an unknown outside Europe.
Anthony Hopkins is the major star in this film an with some short appearances he grabs the screen, this movie without him it wasn't a movie.
Although the great effort by Jim Sturgess and Sam Worthington, they don't gave enough of what was expected from these kind of actors.
I think the movie could explore more the tension between the kidnappers, and the relation with the kidnapped.
It looked like i was watching a Documentary and recreation of the events.
Tomorrow ill forget this film, 5 out of 10 because its always a pleasure watching the one and only Sir. Anthony Hopkins.

Take it for what it is

The negative reviews for this film abound. It seems most are comparing it to the first Scorpion King, with "The Rock." Admittedly, the three that have thus far followed it aren't nearly of the same quality. But if you put that aside and just take it for what it is, it's a fun film, with some wit and levity that even had me chuckle out loud a couple of times. It wasn't full of gratuitous sex or vulgarity. It's just a fun action adventure popcorn movie. It will not rank among the best movies of all time nor is it trying to do so. I had just returned from another 7-hour chemotherapy session and this film hit the spot: Brainless and fun entertainment. If you just take it for what it is, I hope you'll enjoy Scorpion King 4 as much as I did.

TL;DR: Visually stunning, action filled and down to earth action sequences (no over the top BS). Storyline with nice twists and pretty good for an action movie, though watching Ghost Protocol helps getting to know the IMF crew (there's no introduction this time around). **spoiler-free** Rogue Nation, like the latest movies in the franchise and others in the spy/action genre, starts with a small crew, with little support, against huge odds, having to deal with challenges that seem impossible (no pun intended). What makes Rogue Nation better than most is that it makes it all plausible without super-human characters, crazy gizmos (except one that I shaw not mention, but it is not overused like in M:I II), and brilliantly made down-to-earth action sequences. The latest 007 movies are following the same ideals, but M:I has made a solid choice of supporting actors (specially Simon Pegg) that add a subtle layer of comedy and improvisation, which helps a lot into building some suspense in the audience - it feels like as if they are as clueless as we are of what is going to happen. Another great aspect that sets this moving apart are the terrific action sequences which are paired with outstanding sound effects and music score (without spoiling, there is an entire action sequence that plays with this very aspect). Was lucky enough to watch a pre-screening on IMAX, and strongly recommend watching it on IMAX or a theater with a good audio setup.
The storyline, while not hard to follow, benefits from having watched at least Ghost Protocol, since key characters are back and lack some introduction, and the story somewhat picks from what took place in the last instance. Much like Ghost Protocol, the storyline packs some interesting twists and doesn't seem obvious - even though we all know that the good guys win, Rogue Nation adds some shady characters which are not as black and white, making for some interesting development.
Overall a highly entertaining movie, packed with stunning action sequences and a storyline that is well thought-out and manages to keep the audience hooked until the end. A solid addition to the franchise that keeps one-upping itself on every new release.

Storyline
In 2044, solar storms have killed 99.7 % of the world's population and
only 21 million people survive. The ROC Corporation has designed and
built robots called Automata Pilgrim 7000 to help to rebuild the world.
These robots have two security protocols; they can neither harm humans
nor alter themselves or other robots. When police officer Sean Wallace
shoots a robot and claims that it was altering itself, ROC insurance
agent Jacq Vaucan is placed in charge of the investigation. Soon he
believes that there is a "clocksmith" illegally modifying the robots.
Jacq wants to live in the coast and asks his boss and friend Robert Bold
to transfer him with his pregnant wife Rachel Vaucan to the coast.
Robert offers the possibility if Jacq resolves the case. Jacq and
Wallace go to a brothel where the modified robot Cleo attends and
Wallace shoots its leg, expecting that the owner will lead them to the
clocksmith. They meet Duprè but she is not the clocksmith that is

Mildly entertaining

Banderas' attempt at a sci-fi flick has great potential but it ultimately falls flat. It's not because of the story. Although the trailer makes it clear that we're dealing with a recycled idea from Asimov's universe (robots that become more human than some humans), the movie barely scratches the surface of the issues at hand and chooses a middle path between a serious deep movie and an action flick and fails at both. Banderas' character is the only one that interesting and it's easy to follow him and his point of view all the way from a corporate lackey to a guy involved in some ethical dilemmas. He acts well, way better than the movie average. The first problem is that there aren't any other well-drawn characters. Everyone else is flat, starting from his family, his boss and his opponents. To call them one-dimensional is giving them too much credit, I would say they are soulless and at some point I was really hoping for them to just die and leave us with the robots and Banderas. I can't fault the actors much, it's the script that didn't give them any chance. The second problem is the plot. Although the story has potential, the plot fails at acquiring it. It won't take long to see that at some point the actions of the 'bad guys' really stop making sense, they are there just as a really poor excuse for some lame attempts at action sequences (I'm not going to detail this as to not give spoilers, suffice to say that the main pretext for the confrontation between the bad guys and Banderas is not necessary at all, if you stop to think about it for a minute given the situation of the humans in the movie and whatnot). The last one is the soundtrack. It's absolutely atrocious and the sound doesn't fit with the images at all, especially the music sequences. I will admit that the movie is entertaining for the most part. But that's it. It wastes an amazing potential, fails to explore itself and just throws some lines and some action at you that lacks logic, common sense and characters (save for Banders and the robots).

Storyline

This won't take long: Anyone
who's concerned with clichés and prefers to avoid them then maybe this
isn't the movie for you. Continue reading if you may. Steven
Seagal, probably one of the worst actors but fine action stars, is back
to his usual tricks of never taking a beating and playing either an ex-
soldier, agent, marine, black ops operative - whatever! The point is his
movies are as clichéd and dull as any movies ( theatrically or
Direct-to-DVD release ) and he coincidentally proves otherwise in this
movie. The best movie he's appeared in DTD is probably 'Maximum
Conviction.' He stars alongside Steve Austin the former wrestler, and
the acting, storytelling and action scenes were brilliant. I gave it a
8/10 rating as it was well deserved. 'A Good Man' manages to bring a
huge standard of stability to its storytelling as well; the only
downside: hardly any action. That aside the performances from most of
the actors were splendid and kept the movie watchable. At times it felt
like elements of the screenplay might start to slip, but the actors keep
the spirit of the movie alive. As an action movie fan I hate
say, but this movie I would suggest only recommendable if you feel only
good storytelling would put you in the right mood to enjoy this flick.
If you desire action and wouldn't want to waste time watching something
with hardly any action then this isn't the movie for you. I wouldn't
recommend buying it either; there's way better action movies.
